Montgomery Field Trip
April 26, 2012
The Montgomery Field Trip was a great success. The students, teachers, and parents rode on three chartered buses to downtown Montgomery. The groups visited The First White House of the Confederacy, The Judicial Building, The Capitol Building, and the Rosa Parks Museum and Children's Wing where they boarded a bus and were taken back in time by Mr. Rivets the bus driver, to learn more about the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. The groups also visited State House where they were able to view the House of Represenatives debating a bill. They also witnessed a protest by a group outside the State House who were opposed to the immigration bill. The groups enjoyed lunch from Chris' Famous Hotdogs which is family owned and has been in business in downtown Montgomery since 1917. The students posed for pictures on the steps of the Capitol Building before boarding the buses to go home. The final stop of the day was at Cracker Barrel in Pelham to eat supper.
